Municipal Auditorium
The Municipal Auditorium is located at the corner of Pine Avenue and Jackson Street. Ten Eyck Brown designed it in the American Movement architectural style. It was planned and erected over three years from 1913 to 1916. The auditorium opened on October 4, 1916, to much fanfare and celebration. At one point, the building was touted as "The Showplace of Georgia".
The Municipal Auditorium was listed on the National Register of Historic Sites in June 1974. In January 1988, the building went through a four-million-dollar renovation and reopened on March 3, 1990. Since the refurbishment, the Municipal Auditorium has been one of the cultural centers of the community, hosting plays, symphony performances, and civic and political events.
