Pearly's

Carey Gates came in Albany in 1960. During his first years as a citizen of Albany, Georgia he worked for the US Postal Service where he gained the nickname "Pearly Gates". In June of 1962, he left his position at the post office to become owner and operator of Burger Chef, one of the first restaurants on Slappey Drive in the 1960's. Through the years he remained at the same location and the restaurant name changed from Burger Chef to Hardees. In 1991, Pearly made the decision to become an independent, family owned restaurant where he could serve his customers with quality food and service without corporate guidelines. Today, Pearly's Famous Country Cooking remains in the same location and is still owned and operated by Pearly and Ruth Gates along with their family. Pearly's continues to serve Albanians with their famous country cooking and customer service with a personal touch.
